Forged from obsidian-veined, infernal iron, this quarterstaff is unnaturally heavy and perpetually cold. When held, one can feel a faint, discordant vibration, like the silent wailing of a thousand trapped voices. The tenets of Ashen Palm's philosophy are etched along its length in sharp, cruel Infernal script, glowing with a faint, violet light in the presence of strong emotion or when a life is taken.
"Death is not an end. It is the final, perfect state of order. The lucky ones have found their place. The rest will be shown theirs."
When you reduce a hostile creature to 0 hit points with an attack from this weapon, you can use your reaction to harvest a fragment of its spirit. The staff can hold a maximum of 10 such spirit fragments. While holding this staff, you can hear the faint spectral whispers of those who have fallen from it. Upon harvesting 10 spirit fragments, you are able to cast Chain Lightning. Casting spends the spirits casting them to another plane.
Proficiency with a Quarterstaff allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Topple. If you hit a creature with this weapon, you can force the creature to make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 plus the ability modifier used to make the attack roll and your Proficiency Bonus). On a failed save, the creature has the Prone condition.
Notes: Bonus: Magic, by a Monk, Damage, Combat, Versatile, Topple
