Arcanist's Fire (flask)

The potion known as Arcanist's Fire is the result of alchemical magics married with physical chemistry. Within this viscous fluid are shimmering metallic specks that, once exposed to air, rapidly amplify the reaction between the fluid and the air.

As an action, you can throw this flask up to 20 feet, shattering it on impact. The resulting explosion produces a concussive blast wave and engulfs a 15 foot radius sphere in a blinding flash of flame. Within this radius, each creature and non-magical object that isn't being carried takes 1d4 fire damage and additional force damage determined either by the DM or by the suggested crafting rules below. In addition, each creature in the blast radius must succeed on a DC 13 Constitution saving throw or be both deafened and blinded until the start of your next turn.

Crafting
To craft 1 flask of Arcanist's Fire requires proficiency with Alchemist's Supplies and a slow (minimum 4 hr) redistillation of 1 flask of Alchemist's Fire with a sufficient quantity of the proper metal shards. The crafter must roll a DC 16 Arcana (Intelligence) check. Determine the difference between the roll and the DC. This difference determines the outcome:

• Roll is a natural 20 (critical success): the resulting Arcanist's Fire flask deals 4d4 additional force damage.
• Roll is +10 or more compared to the DC: the resulting Arcanist's Fire flask deals 3d4 additional force damage.
• Roll is from +5 to +9 compared to the DC: the resulting Arcanist's Fire flask deals 2d4 additional force damage.
• Roll is from  +0 to +4 compared to the DC: the resulting Arcanist's Fire flask deals 1d4 additional force damage.
• Roll is from -1 to -6 compared to the DC: the original Alchemist's Fire flask is retained, but unaltered.
• Roll is -7 or less compared to the DC: the original Alchemist's Fire flask is destroyed.
• Roll is a natural 1 (critical failure): the original Alchemist's Fire flask is destroyed, and the crafter immediately suffers 4d6 fire damage that is unpreventable.
