This suit of armor is wrapped in cold, blackened chains etched with infernal runes of binding and command. When worn, the chains shift subtly, almost breathing, as if eager for release.
Animate the Chains (1/Day)
As an action, you can cast Animate Objects (DC 15) without using a spell slot or material components. However, the spell only affects the chains wrapped around your armor. When you use this feature:
- The chains uncoil and animate, becoming 4 medium animated chains (each treated as a medium object for the spell’s stats).
- They take on serpentine forms of metal, acting as your allies for the spell’s duration (1 minute).
- They attack with slashing or bludgeoning damage (your choice) and are attached to the armor
- While the chains are animated, they have a reach of 10 feet.
- as a bonus action you can command the chains to attack a creature within 10 feet of you. When you hit with an attack you force the creature to make a strength save or be grappled by the chain and can be pulled 5 feet forward if you choose.
- Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until the next dawn.
Plate consists of shaped, interlocking metal plates to cover the entire body. A suit of plate includes gauntlets, heavy leather boots, a visored helmet, and thick layers of padding underneath the armor. Buckles and straps distribute the weight over the body.
