This thick, yellowish oil fills the air with the pungent odor of herbs when uncorked. It is non-flammable, and resists freezing or coagulating even in the most extreme temperatures. The oil can coat one slashing or piercing weapon or up to 5 pieces of slashing or piercing ammunition. Applying the oil takes 1 minute. For the next hour, attacks made with these weapons or ammunition gain advantage against creatures of a specific type, depending upon the type of oil used. Any slashing or piercing damage they deal to creatures of that type cannot be resisted or reduced in any way.
The oil also imposes a secondary effect on the creatures it targets, listed below. The saving throw DC of the effect is 12 + half the target's Challenge Rating, rounded down. The target cannot have advantage on this saving throw, and the effect cannot be resisted with Legendary Resistance. If a target fails its saving throw against the effect, it automatically succeeds future saves against the effect for 24 hours. Any conditions imposed by these effects cannot be resisted by creatures with condition immunity, unless otherwise specified.
| 1d12 | Type |
| 1 | Blighted Oil. (Plant) The target must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failure, the target becomes blinded and deafened for one minute. While blinded in this way, the target loses any auxiliary senses it may have, such as tremorsense or blindsight. |
| 2 | Coagulating Oil. (Ooze) The target must make a Strength saving throw. On a failure, the target becomes incapacitated for one minute. While incapacitated in this way, the target loses the ability to squeeze through any space smaller than itself, and it cannot occupy another creature's space. If the target was squeezing when it became incapacitated, it becomes paralyzed. Any creature in the target's space when it becomes incapacitated is immediately shunted to a free adjacent space, and any creature grappled by the target is immediately released. |
