Weapon (whip), legendary (requires attunement)

Forged by the master weapon-smiths of the Ashen Veil, Shadowcoil embodies perfect harmony between reach and precision. Its curved blade cuts with surgical swiftness, while the weighted chain flows like liquid shadow, striking with deadly grace. In the hands of a skilled wielder, it becomes an elegant dance of control and lethality, capable of binding, striking, and reshaping the battlefield with each motion.

You have a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.

This weapon has the two-handed property.

Weighted Chain.
When you take the Attack action with this weapon (using the bladed whip end), you can use a bonus action to lash out with the weighted chain on the opposite end. This bonus action attack is a melee weapon attack that deals bludgeoning damage and uses a d4 for its damage die.

If you hit the same creature with both the whip and the weighted chain on the same turn, you can attempt to entangle the target in the chain. The target must succeed on a Strength saving throw (DC = 8 + your attack modifier with this weapon) or become restrained until the start of your next turn. You can have only one creature restrained in this way at a time, and the effect ends if you move farther than the weapon’s reach from the target.

You can choose to attune to this weapon. While attuned, you gain the following benefit:
Elemental Armament.
The sickle and weight deal an additional 2d8 damage of a type of your choice: acid, cold, fire, force, lightning, necrotic, poison, psychic, radiant, or thunder. You choose the damage type when you finish a long rest, and you can change it whenever you finish another long rest.

As a bonus action, you can prematurely change the sickle and weight's elemental damage type to another option from the list above.

Dance of the Elemental Reaper.
When you take the Attack action, you can forgo your other attacks to unleash the kusarigama’s full reach. The chain extends unnaturally, sweeping through the air in a deadly arc. Choose up to three creatures of your choice within your reach that you can see. Each target must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC = 8 + your attack modifier with this weapon). On a failed save, a creature takes 5d8 damage of the kusarigama's current elemental type and is pulled up to 10 feet closer to you. On a successful save, it takes half as much damage and isn’t pulled.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Veil of Intertwined Fate.
As an action, you can plunge Shadowcoil into the shadows, creating a swirling field of whirling chain and spectral sickle arcs in a 30-foot radius centered on you. For 1 minute, the following effects occur:
- The kusarigama’s reach is doubled, allowing you to strike through regions of shadow and chain that would normally be out of range.
- When using Weighted Chain, you can restrain more than one creature at a time. If a creature you target with Weighted Chain is immune to the restrained condition, it instead takes an additional 5d10 damage of the kusarigama's current elemental type and has its speed reduced by half.
- Whenever a creature misses you with an attack, you can use your reaction to make one attack with the bladed whip and one attack with the weighted chain against that creature. This reaction attack counts as using Weighted Chain.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.

Proficiency with a Whip allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Slow. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to it, you can reduce its Speed by 10 feet until the start of your next turn. If the creature is hit more than once by weapons that have this property, the Speed reduction doesn’t exceed 10 feet.

Notes: Bonus: Magic, Damage: Acid, Weapon Property: Finesse, Damage, Combat, Finesse, Reach, Slow
