Ascendant Inkweaver’s Tattoo Kit

This lacquered obsidian case is engraved with faintly pulsing runes and contains volcanic-iron needles, spectral inks, and a bone stylus carved with ancient sigils. When attuned, the ink within the kit awakens and binds itself to your essence, granting you the ability to inscribe magical tattoos onto yourself or another willing creature. These tattoos adhere to the rules for magic tattoos found in Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything and grow stronger as the kit progresses through its awakened states.

Tattoo Crafting. While attuned to the kit, you can use it to inscribe a magical tattoo during a long rest (or short rest once the kit reaches its Exalted state). Each tattoo occupies a portion of skin comparable to a hand-sized design unless otherwise stated. You may only benefit from a number of active tattoos equal to the kit’s current awakened state. Creating a new tattoo beyond this limit causes an older tattoo of your choice to fade and lose its magic. Removing a tattoo requires 1 hour with the kit.

Awakening. The kit has three states—Awakened, Enlightened, and Exalted—which unlock as you grow in power. Each state grants access to additional tattoo designs and increases the number of active tattoos you can maintain.

Notes: To attune to the Ascendant Inkweaver’s Tattoo Kit, you must spend a short rest studying the runes etched into the case and letting the spectral ink soak into your fingertips. During this rest, the ink binds to your magic and awakens your ability to create and sustain magical tattoos. You must be a creature capable of wielding magic (such as a spellcaster or someone with innate magical abilities) to attune to the kit.
