You have a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
This ornate straight razor is forged from mirror-polished steel and inlaid with red-and-blue enamel in the barber’s pole motif. When opened, faint whispers in Celestial and Abyssal murmur hymns to Ton’dur the Smooth, patron of perfection and depilation.
“Through the blade, the flesh is purified. Through the smoothness, the soul ascends.”
Stats
- Counts as a +1 dagger when used as a weapon.
- While attuned, the wielder’s hair ceases to grow anywhere on their body. This effect persists until the razor is destroyed or the attunement is broken.
- When the blade draws blood, it emits a faint, sterile shhhh sound and leaves the wound unnaturally clean (no infection can result).
- Once per day, the wielder can cast Thaumaturgy to cause a soft radiant glow and the faint scent of barber’s soap to emanate for 1 minute.
Curse of the Perfect Flesh
A creature who attunes to the Razor of Ton’dur must make a DC 13 Wisdom saving throw. On a failure, they become mildly obsessed with cleanliness and self-perfection. After 7 days of continued attunement, this compulsion grows: they view any hairy creature as unclean and suffer disadvantage on Persuasion checks with them but advantage on Intimidation checks.
Breaking the curse requires Remove Curse or voluntary hair regrowth (which takes 3d10 days and requires concentrated effort).
Flavor Hooks
- Often found in cult shrines or barber altars wrapped in perfumed linen.
- Carried by Shaven Cult Vets as badges of rank.
- Rumors speak of a Greater Razor of Ton’dur, said to “shave away the soul” in divine judgment.
Proficiency with a Dagger allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
