Aetherborn Crystal Heart
A shard of aetherborn crystal replaces your heart. It hungers for mana and glows with unnatural power.
Crystal Overchannel. When you cast a wizard spell of 1st–5th level that deals damage, you may channel the crystal’s energy. The spell deals maximum damage.
-
Immediately after, you take 5d4 force damage per level of the spell (ignores resistance and immunity). Your hit point maximum are reduced by the amount of force damage taken. The reduction lasts until you finish a long rest or are targeted by a greater restoration or wish spell.
-
Each additional time you use this feature before finishing a long rest, the damage increases by +2d4 per spell level.
-
If this damage kills you, your body is disintegrated. Only a wish spell or similarly powerful magic can restore you.
Crystal Surge. At the end of each long rest, roll a d20:
-
1 → The crystal devours your vitality. Your maximum HP is permanently reduced by 1d4.
-
20 → The crystal resonates in harmony. Until your next long rest, you gain +1 to spell attack rolls, spell save DC, and spell damage.
Life Conduit. As an action, you or an adjacent ally may touch the crystal and expend a spell slot. The crystal converts the magic into vitality, healing you for 1d4 + your CON modifier hit points per level of the slot spent.
-
This healing cannot be redirected to anyone else.
-
If you are at 0 HP, you may still benefit from this ability, but you must be stabilized within the same round or continue making death saving throws as normal.
Unatunning from the Aetherborn Crystal Heart instantly kills the attuned creature and disintegrates the body.
Notes: Automatically attuned to the creature it is used upon
