Artist's Light

A simple looking paintbrush that has not lost it's sheen and is warm to the touch. Engraved on the handle are beautiful designs of an ancient culture that still stays vibrant up to this day.

This item now serves as the artist spirit's anchor to the Material Plane. This item functions as a regular paintbrush. It also has the additional properties:

Sentience. Artist's Light houses a sentient, chaotic good spirit with an Intelligence of 11, a Wisdom of 14 and a Charisma of 16. They have hearing and darkvision out to a range of 60ft. This spirit can understand elven, dwarvish & common, and can communicate by transmitting emotions to the creature attuned to the item. While attuned to the item, the spirit also understands every language you know.

Collaboration. Attuning to this item does not count to the wielder's total number of magic items. The act of attuning is more akin to the wielder forming a bond with the spirit.

Guiding Hand. You gain a +2 bonus to any ability checks made when this paintbrush is used to paint If you are proficient with Painter's Tools, your proficiency bonus is also doubled for any ability check you make that uses the Painter's Tools.

Art Block. Whenever the wielder tries to create any new work of art*, painting or not, they must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency modifier) or have the idea lost for the time being, returning to them after 1+1d6 days. (*DM's discretion.)

Personality. The spirit that inhabits Artist's Light is warm, cheerful, and seeks the opportunity to explore the world and to see the many beautiful sights it has to offer. They long to create, and will happily support the wielder's artistic pursuits should they choose to do so.
