You gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. Enemies hit by this weapon are unable to teleport or leave the plane they are currently on by any means for 1 hour.
Soul Vessel. When a sentient humanoid non-undead creature is slain by this weapon, its soul is extracted and stored within the axe. When this happens, you gain 5 temporary hit points.
Each soul consumed slowly opens the eye at the center of the axe’s blade. When the axe reaches fifty total souls, the eye opens completely. The bonus to attack and damage rolls increases to +2 as the souls are consumed permanently to empower the weapon. These souls can only be released from their containment if the axe is destroyed before the eye is fully opened.
Soul Reaver's Curse. As long as you are attuned to this weapon and it has consumed 50 souls you are cursed. As long as you remain cursed:
- You are unwilling to part with the weapon, keeping it within reach at all times.
- You also have Disadvantage on attack rolls with weapons made if this axe is not equipped.
- If you die while wielding this axe, your soul is trapped within the weapon and you cannot be resurrected unless the axe is first destroyed.
- If you are reduced to zero hit points while the axe is equipped or is in your equipment, your first death saving throw has a -10 modifier.
- You are haunted by the whispers of the souls bound to the axe. When you take a long rest, roll 1d4
- On a 1 or 2, nothing happens and your long rest proceeds as normal
- On a 3, you are unable to recover all your hitpoints and only recover your maximum hitpoints minus your character level
- On a 4, you are unable to recover all your hitpoints and only recover your maximum hitpoints minus your character level, and the axe casts a level 1 Dissonant Whispers on you
Proficiency with a Battleaxe allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Topple. If you hit a creature with this weapon, you can force the creature to make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 plus the ability modifier used to make the attack roll and your Proficiency Bonus). On a failed save, the creature has the Prone condition.
