The Aetherstorm Tempest greatsword hums with the pressure of storm-warped air. Its blade is forged seemingly from translucent glass, veined with lightly flickering streaks of pale blue, though it is as tough as any steel blade. Ever-present clouds gather within the glass, reacting to the nature of those who attune to the item. When swung in battle, the air around the edge fractures into ribbons of spiraling wind and crackling energy. Be careful, particularly powerful hits seem to jolt this weapon with a surge of extra energy!
Aetherwind Cut: The greatsword deals an additional 1d8 lightning damage on a hit.
Cyclonic Traversal (3/Day): As bonus action, or as part of activating your Rage, you become partially aetheric, wreathed in wind and crackling pressure. Until the end of your turn:
- Your movement does not provoke opportunity attacks
- You can move through enemy spaces (they count as difficult terrain and you cannot end your turn inside one)
- Your first weapon attack deals an extra 3d6 force damage
Stormbound Pursuit: If you move 20 feet or more in a straight line toward an enemy and successfully hit it with this weapon on the same turn:
- The target takes an extra 2d6 force damage
- The target must succeed on a Strength saving throw (DC17) or be pushed 10 feet away or knocked prone (your choice)
Tempestborne: While attuned to this weapon, you have advantage on Strength (Athletics) checks when jumping, climbing or being shoved/grappled.
Long before mortal ships sailed across the oceans, the Aetheric Cyclone - an ancient cyclone spanning both the Material Plane and the Astral Plane - crackled with living storms. Within it dwelled spirits born of chaotic winds, astral pressure, and the raw freedom of unbound skies. The greatest of these spirits was Vaelorin, a being who existed to chase whatever dared to outrun the winds. Vaelorin hunted astral leviathans, ancient dragons, and even thoughts that strayed too far into the void. Speed, pursuit and the thrill of the chase were its entire essence. When the Aetheric Cyclone collapsed in a civil war beteen the chaotic powers that be, Vaelorin was struck down. Rather than be destroyed, it condensed its consciousness into a single vessel: a greatsword meant not to serve, but to find a worthy partner in freedom.
