Wondrous Item, legendary

This golden amulet is shaped like a swirling portal. While wearing it, you can use an action to speak its command word and target up to current capacity of creatures you can see within 60 feet. Each target must succeed on a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw or be banished to a demiplane created by this amulet. A willing creature can choose to fail this saving throw.

The Demiplane. This extradimensional space is a barren, flat expanse of rock and grey dust, stretching for 50 square miles under a featureless twilight sky. It has a uniform height of 1 mile. The demiplane can hold a maximum of 10 creatures at one time. While inside, creatures are deaf to each other's sounds.

The demiplane provides minimum nourishment and water to sustain 5 Medium-sized creatures for one year. If more than 5 creatures are present, the sustenance is only sufficient for six months. If the sustenance is depleted, it fully regenerates after 30 days.

A creature banished to the demiplane can attempt to escape. After one year has passed, the creature can make a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw with advantage. On a success, the creature returns to the location it occupied when it was banished. On a failure, the creature remains trapped and can make another saving throw after another year has passed.

As an action, you can recall any or all of the creatures from the demiplane. They appear in unoccupied spaces of your choice within 30 feet of you.

As a bonus action, you can peer into the demiplane for up to 10 minutes a day, observing the creatures within as if using the scrying spell, though you cannot communicate with them.

This property can't be used again until the next dawn.

Curse. If a creature dies within the demiplane, you are cursed with nightmares, gaining disadvantage on Wisdom saving throws for 2d6 days. If you die or the amulet is destroyed while creatures are imprisoned, they remain trapped until they escape or the one-year duration expires.

Notes: Requires attunement by a bard, cleric, or druid
