You have a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
While attuned to this weapon, the wielder can choose to shroud themselves in a thin veil of shadow. While enshrouded in this way, you gain the following benefits:
- Light within up to a 10ft radius of you is dimmed; as such, while within bright light you are instead treated as being within dim light, or as being within darkness if you were in dim light.
- Sound within up to a 10ft radius of you is muffled; as such, noises you or other creatures make within the radius are greatly reduced.
- Your movement speed is increased by 10ft, and you gain a +5 to your initiative.
Additionally, while you are attuned to and wielding this weapon in dim light or darkness, it gains the following properties:
- You may cast the spell "Darkvision" at will. Creatures granted darkvision by you can see in both normal and magical darkness.
- Attacks made with this weapon deal Necrotic Damage and ignore Necrotic Resistance.
- Creatures damaged by an attack made with this weapon become Shadow Strangled until the beginning of your next turn.
- Shadow Strangled creatures cannot speak, cast a spell with verbal components, or take reactions without first succeeding on a Constitution saving throw (DC 15).
- When a Shadow Strangled creature is slain, the weapon gains one (1) charge (maximum of 10). Powerful creatures may grant additional charges.
- You may expend charges in the following ways:
- (1 charge) - Darkness - As a Bonus Action, you cast the "Darkness" spell
- (1 charge) - Dark Passage - As an Action, you cast the "Pass without Trace" spell
- (2 charges) - Shadow Hunter - You may take one additional Action or Bonus Action this turn.
- (3 charges) - Void Zone - As an Action, you cast the "Evards Black Tentacles" spell
- (10 charges) - Eclipse - Once per long rest, you may expend all 10 charges to summon a localized eclipse. For the next minute, the world within one mile of you is cast into a non-magical darkness.
Proficiency with a Shortsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
