This hammer and chisel set is bound together by a chain of dark metal three feet long. Runes mark both pieces and the faint smell of ash lingers after the hammer strikes.
The apparatus has the ability to chisel away through magical objects, destroying the base material and leaving behind a portion of Residuum. For every hour spent striking a magical object, the Apparatus of Reduction produces 100GP worth of Residuum until the total amount produced equals one tenth of the items worth. If the items Residuum worth is less than 100GP then time taken is adjusted accordingly. Objects that have this process begun lose the enchantment they were given and are considered non-magical for the purposes of use, however they can still be finished at a later date and produce their remaining Residuum.
This only works on permanently enchanted physical objects
