Wondrous Item, legendary (requires attunement by a Requires attunement by a Monk)

This golden pelt once belonged to Aru’Zen the Dawn-Prowler, a legendary monk who mastered radiant ki and perfected an ultimate technique. The hue of it's fur shifts subtly throughout the day; soft pink at dawn, vibrant yellow and orange at noon, and deep red and purples at dusk.

While attuned to and wearing the pelt:

  • Your Wisdom score is increased by 2, to a maximum of 24.
  • You gain a number of additional reactions equal to your Wisdom modifier.
  • At the start of each of your turns, you enter a state of mind depending on your current hit points.
    • Prideful: If you have more than half of your maximum hit points.
    • Humble: If you have half of your maximum hit points or less.

Prideful

  • You have advantage on attack rolls, but attack rolls have advantage against you.
  • Critical Hits against you become normal hits.
  • Whenever you score a critical hit with an Unarmed Strike, you may make one additional Unarmed Strike attack.
  • You are immune to the Frightened condition.
  • You gain access to Prideful Defense:
    • Prideful Defense: As a bonus action, you taunt all creatures within 30 feet of you, and gain resistance to all damage until the start of your next turn. Taunted creatures have disadvantage on attack rolls that aren’t against you.

Humble

    • Attack rolls against you have disadvantage
    • When you deal damage with an attack or monk feature, you can reroll the damage dice once. You must use the new roll.
    • Once on each of your turns, you can use a monk feature without spending its initial Focus Point cost.
    • You gain access to Humble Offense:
      • Humble Offense: As a bonus action, you choose a creature you can see within 30 feet of you. Until the beginning of your next turn, the next attack you make against this creature becomes a critical hit, and the creature has disadvantage on any saving throws it makes against you.

Once per long rest, when you would be reduced to 0 hit points, you instead drop to 1 hit point. When this happens:

    • You gain the benefits of both Prideful and Humble until the start of your next turn.
    • You can immediately take one action, one bonus action, and move up to your speed.
    • After using this feature, you cannot enter the Prideful state until you finish a long rest. While this restriction is in effect, you remain in the Humble state regardless of your current hit points.

"Wear it, and remember what Aru'Zen forgot: The lion has two natures. So does every monk. The humility of the student. And the pride of the master. It is not wrong to walk both paths. Only dangerous to forget which one you stand on."  - Unknown Monk Master
