Aegis Bracer

This ingenious piece of dwarven-inspired craftsmanship appears as a reinforced metal gauntlet when inactive, its segmented plates seamlessly folded into the forearm. At a moment’s notice, the wearer can deploy the mechanism, causing the plates to snap outward and lock together, forming a solid round metal shield.

Activating or retracting the Aegis Bracer requires no action, bonus action, or reaction, allowing the wielder to adapt instantly to the flow of combat. When deployed, the shield functions as a normal metal shield. When retracted, it leaves the wearer’s hand free, the shield’s mass distributed harmlessly along the gauntlet.

The internal mechanisms hum softly when in motion, and close inspection reveals intricate runes etched along the inner joints, suggesting the design blends mundane engineering with subtle arcane reinforcement.

Shields require the Utilize action to Don or Doff. You gain the Armor Class benefit of a Shield only if you have training with it.
