Weapon (rapier), very rare (requires attunement by a Ashryn Attunement Ritual To attune to this weapon, a creature must complete a special ritual involving meditation, controlled movement, and arcane focus. Bloodline of Ashryn: The ritual is naturally understood and easier to endure. Non-bloodline: A creature may still attune if they have been properly taught Ashryn magic, traditions, and philosophy. Failure to properly complete the ritual can result in exhaustion or arcane backlash, at the DM’s discretion.)

This elegant rapier bears a pale, refined blade etched with subtle arcane patterns that seem to shift when observed closely. When wielded with discipline and precision, the weapon responds like an extension of the wielder’s will, humming softly with restrained power. The blade was forged by the Ashryn Clan, a lineage of master wizards who believed magic should flow through motion, rhythm, and control rather than brute force.

Though the Ashryn created many enchanted weapons, this blade was crafted specifically to resonate with Bladesong, revealing its true nature only when wielded in harmony with arcane movement.

Dormant State

While dormant, the blade holds restrained arcane potential and can be wielded by any attuned creature.

Weapon Properties

  • This weapon counts as a magical rapier.

  • You gain a +1 bonus to attack rolls made with this weapon.

Ashryn Focus (Dormant Feature)

The blade stores momentum through disciplined strikes.

  • Each time you hit a creature with this weapon, you gain 1 Focus stack (maximum 5).

  • You can gain only 1 Focus stack per turn.

  • Focus stacks last for 10 minutes.

  • All Focus stacks are lost when:

    • A combat encounter ends, or

    • 10 minutes pass without gaining a new stack.

Focus Release (Dormant)

When you reach 5 Focus stacks, you may consume all stacks to trigger one of the following effects:

Chakra Surge

When you hit a creature with this weapon, deal an extra 2d6 force or psychic damage.

Arcane Flow

Immediately after hitting a creature, you may cast one cantrip or one 1st-level spell with a casting time of 1 action as a bonus action this turn.

Restrictions:

  • The spell must target only one creature or yourself.

  • The spell cannot affect more than one creature.

  • You must still provide required components.

Narrative Growth

The blade’s awakened power reflects the wielder’s mastery of rhythm, control, and arcane movement. Further Ashryn techniques may unlock additional abilities, transforming the weapon into a true legacy artifact.

Awakened State — Bladesong Resonance

The Ashryn Chakra Blade awakens only after the wielder masters Bladesong or completes a lost Ashryn rite (DM’s discretion).

While Bladesong is active, the blade enters a heightened state of harmony.

Bladesong Focus Mastery

  • You may release Focus when you reach 4 Focus stacks instead of 5.

Enhanced Focus Release

When you release Focus while Bladesong is active, choose one enhanced effect:

Enhanced Chakra Surge

The extra damage becomes 3d6 force or psychic damage.

Enhanced Arcane Flow

Once per Bladesong, you may cast the spell granted by Arcane Flow without expending a spell slot.

  • On a success, you suffer no exhaustion.

Regardless of the save result:

  • The weapon immediately reverts to its Awakened State.

  • You cannot attempt the Exalted Ritual again for 7 days.

  • The weapon refuses to enter Exalted State during this recovery period.

Narrative Notes (Optional Flavor)

While in the Exalted State, the wielder may appear as:

  • Arcane sigils burning across their arms and blade

  • Movements that blur like afterimages

  • A faint, harmonic hum echoing with each step and strike

When the state ends, the wielder often shows signs of strain: shallow breathing, trembling hands, or fading arcane marks.

Proficiency with a Rapier allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
