After Tiamat's birth, born from the sundering of Asgorath, Tiamat began to create her children, the mighty Chromatic Dragons. Among these was Hagrafane, a cunning and powerful Blue Dragon, and an intelligent thinker, and cunning and cruel ruler. Serving as just as much of a destructive force as Garyx during the Thousand-Year War, he was crucial to their victory. After the war, however, he was betrayed. His usefulness had run its course to Tiamat and her children. Betrayed, he poured his wrath, revenge, and entire soul into a vessel: A blade of his own making, to seek revenge against those who had betrayed him.
The Soul of Hagrafane is a magic, sentient longsword that grants a +3 to attack and damage rolls made with it. It deals an additional 4d6 lightning damage on a hit, which cannot be reduced or negated by immunities.
If the sword is not used to kill a dragon within one minute of it being drawn from the scabbard, its wielder must make a DC 16 Constitution saving throw. On a success, the wielder takes 5d6 lightning damage. On a failed save, the wielder gains one level of exhaustion, as the Soul of Hagrafane siphons their power to keep itself sated.

Sentience. The Soul of Hagrafane is a sentient lawful evil weapon with an Intelligence of 20, a Wisdom of 15, and a Charisma of 17. The weapon communicates telepathically with its wielder, and can speak verbally, and can speak and understand Common, Draconic, and Celestial. It has hearing and has true sight out to a range of 60 feet.
Personality. The Soul of Hagrafane desires to seek revenge on dragon kind for betraying him. As such, it speaks disdainfully of other dragons, and seeks to kill them with little regard for its wielders well being, as long as it can detect a dragon.
Spirit of Revenge. The first time its wielder would die while attuned to it, the Soul of Hagrafane, the sword casts Raise Dead on its wielder. Its wielder is then permanently charmed by the blade, and willing to obey and follow its requests more readily.
Destroying the Soul. The Soul of Hagrafane can be laid to rest by bringing it to Hagrafane's tomb, and casting Divine Intervention on it do destroy the blade. However, this may have the undesired effect or resurrecting Hagrafane himself, the ancient blue dragon greatwyrm. The DM rolls a d100 on a roll of 20 or higher, the casting of Divine Intervention also resurrects Hagrafane, reuniting his soul with his body.
