Created by the Aeorian Mage Athodan, this ornate chest appears to be intricately carved out of a dark stone and has patterns that encircle it, almost like a spiderweb or intersecting ripples in a pond that converge and bisect at a multifaced shape made of a dark onyx like material that is built into the center of the chest just above the seam where the chest's lid closes. Just below this dark polished polyhedron, on the underside of the lid's seam, is a flat raised surface with a sleek keyhole.
Every Timelock Chest was created with a corresponding key that is equally ornate. The chest has handles built into each side, weighs 200 pounds, is 32 inches long, 16 inches wide and 16 inches deep from where it opens, the chest's lid is curved and symmetrical, when closed the apex of the lid makes the chest 26 inches tall.
Timelocked Chest
When this chest is closed it automatically locks, both traditionally and by Timelocking. When this chest is closed roll a d4, the result rolled is the number of days the chest remains Timelocked.
Regardless of whether or not the chest is Timelocked, objects and creatures within the chest while it is closed are paused in time. While its contents are paused in time, they are frozen in place in relation to their position within the chest, everything within does not age, is immune to damage and spell effects, creatures are incapacitated, can't move or speak, are unaware of their surroundings, and don’t need to breathe, eat, or drink. When the chest is opened again, or if the chest is destroyed while not Timelocked, the contents of the chest are no longer paused in time.
After the number of days rolled has passed since closing the chest, the chest is no longer Timelocked and can be unlocked as normal. While Timelocked, the chest cannot be opened by non-destructive means, anything inserted into its keyhole, including lockpicks or its corresponding key, are unable to reach the lock's tumblers as if repelled by an unseen force. If the chest is broken or destroyed while Timelocked, any creatures inside makes a DC 20 Constitution saving throw, taking 10d6+40 force damage on a failed save or half as much on a successful one. All creatures left with 0 hit points from this damage and all non-magical items contained within the chest are disintegrated as the magic that keeps the chest's contents locked in time is violently broken and the chest's former contents are subjected to the throes of eternity in an instant.
