Weapon (halberd), legendary (requires attunement)

The Bonehew is a large Halberd, almost too large. It's blade is pearl-white steel that gleams in the darkness, mounted on a polished ebony wood shaft set with dark gemstones in place of rivets.

Bonehew is a neutral evil weapon, but is not sentient. In the hands of a good aligned creature it functions only as a +3 weapon.
While attuned to and wielding this item it grants the following benefits:

  • You have a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
  • A number of times per a day equal to half your proficiency bonus (rounded up) you may add one additional attack with this weapon as part of your normal attack action.
  • Whenever you hit an enemy with this weapon, it can not regain hit points until the start of your next turn.
  • Whenever you deal a critical hit to an enemy, this item projects an ethereal spear of bone from the point of impact. All creatures within a 5 foot wide, 30 foot long line take 4d6 Force damage. Other than the first creature that was hit with the critical hit, all other creatures take half damage on a successful DC 17 Dexterity save.
  • Socketed (2) - This item has  2 Sockets for magic Gems, Jewels, or Runes that can add to or change the abilities of this item. Once one of those items has been placed into a socket in this item it can not be removed without destroying it. Every time an item is removed from a socket there is a 25% chance that socket becomes damaged and unusable, requiring a Wish to repair it.

Item based on the Diablo 2 item of the same name.

Proficiency with a Halberd allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Cleave. If you hit a creature with a melee attack roll using this weapon, you can make a melee attack roll with the weapon against a second creature within 5 feet of the first that is also within your reach. On a hit, the second creature takes the weapon’s damage, but don’t add your ability modifier to that damage unless that modifier is negative. You can make this extra attack only once per turn.

Notes: Bonus: Magic, Damage, Combat, Heavy, Reach, Two-Handed, Cleave
