A ronin’s full kit worn as one: reinforced heart-guard breastplate, layered lamellae, sode shoulder plates, heavy kote vambraces, and suneate shin-guards. Across one shoulder hangs a jagged, tattered war-banner taken from a Takeda-adjacent war house, worn as a trophy-drape. The cloth does not flutter like decoration; it hangs like a verdict.
Armor Class. You gain a +2 bonus to AC while wearing this armor.
— Heart-Guard (Chest): Fortified Heart —
While wearing this armor, any critical hit against you becomes a normal hit.
In addition, you have advantage on saving throws against being moved against your will (such as being shoved or pushed).
— Kote Vambraces (Arms): Vambrace Parry —
When a creature you can see hits you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction to reduce the damage by 1d10 + your proficiency bonus. After you use this reaction, you can’t use it again until the start of your next turn.
— Suneate Shin-Guards (Legs): Unbroken Footing —
Your speed increases by 5 feet.
You have advantage on saving throws and ability checks made to resist being knocked prone.
Additionally, when you are knocked prone, you can stand up by spending only 5 feet of movement (instead of half your speed).
— War-Banner Drape (Shoulder): Challenge the Line (PB/Long Rest) —
When you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can mark it until the start of your next turn. While marked:
• The creature has disadvantage on attack rolls against targets other than you.
• The creature can’t take the Disengage action.
• If the creature moves 5 feet or more while within your reach, you can use your reaction to make one melee weapon attack against it.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
— Ronin’s Refusal (All Pieces, 1/Long Rest) —
When you would be reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, you can drop to 1 hit point instead. You regain the use of this feature when you finish a long rest.
Drawback: Trophy-Weight of History —
While wearing this armor with the war-banner drape unfurled, you have disadvantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks.
You can remove, bind, or stow the drape (DM’s discretion, typically 1 minute). While bound/stowed, you lose the War-Banner Drape features and you no longer suffer this drawback.
Notes:
• This armor does not require attunement.
• The war-banner is considered part of the armor for slot purposes.
This armor consists of a fitted metal chest piece worn with supple leather. Although it leaves the legs and arms relatively unprotected, this armor provides good protection for the wearer's vital organs while leaving the wearer relatively unencumbered.
Notes: Bonus: Armor Class, Bonus: Speed, Disadvantage: Stealth, Combat, Warding
