Ammunition. This arrow can be fired only with a bow or a crossbow by a creature that has proficiency with that weapon. When you fire this arrow, its magic activates whether the attack hits or misses, and the arrow’s magic is then expended.
Ice Burst. When you fire this arrow, make a normal ranged weapon attack against a creature within your weapon’s normal range, or fire the arrow at a location you can roughly indicate within your weapon’s normal range. The arrow detonates where it strikes a creature or surface.
On a hit, the target takes the weapon’s normal damage, and the target must also make a DC 10+Proficiency Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, the target takes an additional 2d4 cold damage, or half as much cold damage on a successful one.
Each other creature within 5 feet of the impact point must also make a DC 10+Proficiency Dexterity saving throw, taking 2d4 cold damage on a failed save, or half as much cold damage on a successful one.
Indirect Fire. If you fire this arrow at a location you can’t see, creatures making these saving throws have advantage.
Ice Surface. The detonation coats the ground in a 5 foot radius centered on the impact point with ice that lasts until the end of your next turn. The area is difficult terrain. The first time a creature enters the icy area on a turn, it must make a DC 10+Proficiency Dexterity saving throw or fall prone.
Retrieval. After the magic is expended, the arrow can be retrieved if not broken, but it is nonmagical. The arrow is destroyed if it strikes a hard surface such as stone or metal.
