Wondrous Item, rare

After being fired from a bow, this bow splits off another arrow (without this duplicating property) for every 20' this arrow travels (to a maximum of 19 extra arrows).

  • Each additional arrow can target any creature or object within 10' of the original target
  • All targets must be decided before any attack/damage rolls are made.
  • Each arrow's attack is calculated separately
    • Each arrow gets its own attack roll and damage roll.
    • Advantage/Disadvantage for each roll is determined separately.

Example: Hank, the ranger, fires this arrow from a longbow and the arrow travels 200 feet before getting to the target.

  • During that time, 10 arrows (200/20) split off the original arrow for a total of 11 arrows.
  • The original arrow must target the original target, but the archer decides to send 1 more arrow at the original target, 2 arrows each to 4 different creatures within 10 feet, and 1 at a lever within 10 feet.
  • One of the extra creatures is prone, so the at attacks against the prone creature have disadvantage.
  • Another creature just got hit by Guiding Bolt, so the first attack roll against that creature has advantage and the other is a straight roll.
  • Another creature is 155' from Hank, so it falls within the long range of the longbow imposing disadvantage on both shots.
