Like common leather armor, the breastplate and shoulder protectors of this armor are made of leather that has been stiffened by being boiled in oil. The rest of the armor is made of softer and more flexible materials. Unlike common leather armor, magical glyphs of protection have been burned in ornate patterns everywhere across its surface.
Once attuned with a short or long rest, this magical armor provides a +2 bonus to AC above the regular stats for leather armor.
This magical armor is cursed! Once attuned, if this armor is worn while sleeping and the wearer sleeps for at least 4 consecutive hours, the wearer will be cursed with perceived foreign form. On waking up, the wearer will think their physical body has been transformed into that of the last creature they saw before falling asleep. Their body however has not actually changed in any way, they just think it has. No one else can tell that anything has changed.
The cursed individual automatically fails any perception check that is related to their physical person, their reflection, or the sound of their voice. They perceive themself entirely as their new form, they are convinced they have transformed, and they can not be persuaded otherwise.
The cursed individual has disadvantage on all constitution, dexterity, and strength ability checks and saving throws as their body does not behave, move, or react the way they think it does. If the perceived transformation is extreme or especially distracting to the individual, (for example: changing gender, race, or size) at the DM's discretion there may be a negative penalty applied to these rolls in addition to the disadvantage.
The cursed individual may remove this armor but while removed it remains attuned to them and the curse does not end. The cursed individual may not unattune from this armor without the aid of the remove curse spell or similar magic. Unattuning from this armor does not end the curse.
The curse is resistant to the detect magic spell, the identify spell, and similar magic. These spells will only reveal the ornate magical glyphs and the +2 bonus to AC. A successful DC 15 arcana check on the magical glyphs will reveal that some unknown thing has been concealed within the armor by a very powerful sorcerer. A successful DC 20 arcana check on the magical glyphs will reveal the full details of the curse.
An antimagic field or similar magic can suppress the effects of the curse while the cursed individual is within the field but the effects return when the cursed individual leaves the antimagic field.
The curse can be removed by a greater restoration spell or similar magic. If the cursed individual has unattuned from this armor, the curse may be removed by a dispel magic spell as if the curse were a magical effect of 7th level.
