Staff (quarterstaff), very rare

A slender quarterstaff of dark, polished wood, smooth from years of careful handling. Fine silver filaments spiral subtly along its length, barely noticeable unless the light catches them at the right angle. The head of the staff is capped with a cloudy crystal set in a simple iron ring — not ostentatious, but clearly arcane in purpose.

Faint carvings run along the lower half of the staff in an ancient script. To most observers, the markings resemble decorative sigils associated with spellcraft and elemental theory. Their meaning appears academic, perhaps even ceremonial — the kind of embellishment a young sorcerer might add while studying the fundamentals of magic.

The staff feels well-balanced and familiar in the hand, often used more as a conduit for gestures and dramatic emphasis than as a true weapon. Its bearer frequently taps it against the ground when focusing, draws circles in the air before casting, or leans on it casually while claiming their magic is simply “something they were born with.”

To anyone watching, it is the tool of a disciplined arcane prodigy.

What the carvings truly signify — and who first etched them there — is another matter entirely.
