You acquired this in your travels while chasing a demon to a place called Cincinnati. A young woman that called herself a "ghost hunter" and her husband helped you track down the demon that was causing havoc. She gave you this as a gift when you left.
The frame, cylinder, barrel, and hammer of this revolver are made from adamantine to give it unmatched durability, and was blessed by clerics to impart holy magic onto any ammunition fired from it. Bullets fired from this revolver deal normal piercing damage in addition to a 1d8 radiant damage, and are treated as magical for the purposes of overcoming damage resistance, additionally bullets fired from this revolver are treated as being both on the material and ethereal plane, and will hit creatures on either plane.
It’s up to you to decide whether a character has proficiency with a firearm. Characters in most D&D worlds wouldn’t have such proficiency. During their downtime, characters can use the training rules in the Player’s Handbook to acquire proficiency, assuming that they have enough ammunition to keep the weapons working while mastering their use.
