This thin bookmark is made of supple leather edged with silver thread. Tiny arcane runes shift faintly across its surface when placed between the pages of a book. When left in a text for several minutes, the bookmark seems to quietly absorb the knowledge written within.
Perfect Recall
When you place the Archivist’s Bookmark inside a nonmagical book, scroll, journal, or written document and leave it there for 1 minute, the bookmark magically records the contents of the text.
While attuned to the bookmark, you can perfectly recall any text recorded in this way, including exact wording, diagrams, or illustrations.
This recall allows you to:
-
Quote passages word-for-word
-
Reproduce written material from memory with perfect accuracy
-
Recall page layouts, symbols, and drawings as if looking directly at the page
You can store the contents of up to 10 books or documents within the bookmark at one time.
Instant Reference
As a bonus action, you can mentally call up a recorded page or passage from a stored text. For the next minute, you have advantage on Intelligence checks related to the subject matter contained in that text (such as Arcana, History, Nature, or Religion checks).
This ability can be used a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.
Scholar’s Aid
If you spend 10 minutes studying a stored text through the bookmark before making an ability check related to its contents, you may treat any d20 roll of 9 or lower as a 10 on that check.
Living Library
If you place the bookmark into a new text when it is already storing the maximum number of documents, you may choose one previously stored text to erase from the bookmark’s memory.
When erased, the runes briefly flicker as the knowledge fades away.
