What it does

  • Detects celestial and fiendish planar resonance

  • Measures arcane radiation from rifts, demons, or angels

  • Can determine which plane the energy originates from (Abyss, Nine Hells, Upper Planes, etc.)

How it works

  • Uses bound spell crystals attuned to different planes

  • The prongs open when planar energy is nearby

  • The crystals glow different colors:

Color Source
Gold/White Celestial energy
Crimson Fiendish energy
Violet Abyssal corruption
Blue Arcane residue

Mechanics

  • Advantage on Arcana or Religion checks to detect extraplanar creatures

  • Functions like Detect Evil and Good but as a device
