Weapon (maul), uncommon

This mallet houses a crude mechanism that allows a creature with innate fire abilities to ignite a dense fuel chamber inside the hammerhead. The wielder may fire up the chamber to propel the mallet into a single devastating attack.

Flame-Propelled Smash. As an action, you make a decisive overhead strike with the BFH. Make a melee weapon attack against one target within 5 feet of you. On a hit, the weapon deals an extra 4d6 bludgeoning damage and Large or smaller creatures must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. The DC for the saving throw equals 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier. You may use this feature a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier before you need to take a Long Rest.

Only Medium or larger creatures with a Strength score of at least 13 and innate fire abilities may use Flame-Propelled Smash. The chamber fuel and conductor oil must be replaced every month. A hammer with no oil or fuel works as a regular Maul.

Proficiency with a Maul allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Topple. If you hit a creature with this weapon, you can force the creature to make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 plus the ability modifier used to make the attack roll and your Proficiency Bonus). On a failed save, the creature has the Prone condition.
