A replica of the shield borne by the Gray-Eyed Goddess, the Aegis is famed throughout the multiverse as an item of great rarity and power. It carries 4 charges, and after all charges are used it no longer provides armour benefits until dawn.
The shield has the head of a Medusa emblazoned on it in bronze. As a Bonus Action, the shieldbearer can expend a charge to awaken the head, triggering the following effect: Wisdom Saving Throw: DC 5+AC of shieldbearer, all targets that can see the shield within a 30 ft. Cone. Failure: The target has the Frightened and Incapacitated conditions for 1 minute. Whilst Incapacitated, they are unable to vocalize anything but screams and cannot cast any spells with a Verbal component. The conditions end if the target begins its turn out of sight of the shield.
Shields require the Utilize action to Don or Doff. You gain the Armor Class benefit of a Shield only if you have training with it.
