This strange cane is fashioned from a long bone that bears inky black marks, it feels tiring to hold.
While holding the cane, you can use an action and expend a Hit Die to sense the lifeforce of nearby creatures. You become aware of any creature that isn't an undead or construct within 100 feet. This action doesn’t reveal the creatures’ location or number. Additionally, while holding the cane, you can use a bonus action to expend up to 5 Hit Dice for the cane to siphon. The cane gains charges equal to the number of Hit Dice spent.
The Blinkspine can hold up to 7 charges and loses all unexpended charges at dawn.
As an action, you can expend all of the cane's charges to target a creature within 30 feet. The creature must succeed on a Charisma saving throw with the DC equal to 10 + the number of charges expended. On a failure, the creature is banished to a random plane of existence for a number of days equal to the charges expended. On a success, the user of the cane must expend a hit dice or take 5d10 necrotic damage.
Curse. This cane is cursed, and becoming attuned to it extends the curse to you. As long as you remain cursed, you are unwilling to part with the cane, keeping it within reach at all times. If you’re targeted by a spell that ends a curse, your attunement to the cane ends. In addition, your vitality is constantly drained while wielding the cane. Whenever you gain or spend any number of Hit Dice, except by use of the cane, you must also sacrifice one Hit Die to the cane (if you have any). If you don't have enough Hit Dice to sacrifice, you take 1d6 necrotic damage per Hit Die you cannot expend.
