Armor (shield), rare

This finely balanced shield is rimmed with steel and reinforced with subtle ridges designed not just to block—but to deflect with precision. Its surface bears faint spiral engravings, like wind caught in motion.

When struck, it does not simply absorb force…

It answers it.

Base Properties

  • Grants +2 AC (standard shield)

  • While wielding this shield, you gain a +1 bonus to AC against melee attacks only

Rebounding Parry (Core Feature)

When a creature you can see hits you with a melee attack, you may use your reaction to attempt a parry:

  • Roll 1d8 + your proficiency bonus

  • Reduce the damage taken by that amount

If this reduces the damage to 0, you may:

  • Push the attacker 5 ft. away
    or

  • Make a single melee weapon attack against them

The strike glances off—and in that instant, you answer.

Deflecting Angle

If you moved at least 10 ft. on your turn before being attacked:

  • You gain +2 to your parry roll

Momentum sharpens your defense as much as your offense.

Brace Against the Charge

When a creature moves at least 20 ft. toward you and attacks:

  • You may use your reaction to impose disadvantage on that attack

If the attack misses:

  • The attacker must succeed on a Strength save (DC= 8+pb+str) or be knocked prone

Not all charges belong to your enemies.

Hussar Synergy (Optional Flavor Bonus)

While mounted:

  • If you successfully parry an attack, your mount may move 10 ft. without provoking opportunity attacks

The dance of rider and steed turns defense into motion

his Shield, you have a bonus to Armor Class determined by the Shield’s rarity, in addition to the Shield’s normal bonus to AC.

Shields require the Utilize action to Don or Doff. You gain the Armor Class benefit of a Shield only if you have training with it.
