The axe steals and traps the souls of those it slays. The wielder is able to enter the world filled with the souls, and communicate with them, only if they can find the right one. This world acts like a big crowd inside a void, people floating and swimming around. It is possible to be attacked, however, nobody is armed or armoured. Attacks deal damage based upon wisdom, not strength or dex, health is unchanged.
Anyone not attuned to the item will hear an overwhelming amount of screams whenever coming into contact with the axe, taking an extra 1d4 psychic damage upon contact, and every minute after.
This axe draws blood into it and heals the wielder, 1d4 for every successful hit.
While attuned to this item and wielding it, cracks form all over the wielders body and glow red. If not wielding, the cracks stop glowing and heal gradually over the period of a month.
To attune to the axe, one must suffer the duration of the screams, taking 1d8 of psychic damage every minute for the duration of attunement (60 minutes) If the user dies or goes down during this, the progress is lost and they must start again. If they are healed during this process, they instead take the damage as psychic damage.
The greataxe has three charges, giving the user the ability to cast Phantasmal Killer using each charge, once per round (4d10 damage with a dex saving throw)
Proficiency with a Greataxe allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Cleave. If you hit a creature with a melee attack roll using this weapon, you can make a melee attack roll with the weapon against a second creature within 5 feet of the first that is also within your reach. On a hit, the second creature takes the weapon’s damage, but don’t add your ability modifier to that damage unless that modifier is negative. You can make this extra attack only once per turn.
