Weapon (dagger), very rare (requires attunement)

This narrow, vicious weapon adds +2 to melee attack rolls and does 1d4+2 piercing damage, plus a compounding disease effect that increases after each successful attack on the same target. On the first successful attack action, in addition to the weapon damage, it adds 1d4 of necrotic (disease) damage. On the second successful attack action on that target, the attuned user adds 2d4 necrotic and so on, up to 6d4 of additional necrotic damage per successful attack on the same target. Each success thereafter on the same target continues to add the 6d4 necrotic damage stack.

The counter for any given target resets only after 24 hours have passed, and multiple hits on the same attack action duplicate the damage for that stack (ie a PC with 2 attacks on their attack action who successfully hits the target 3 times would add 3d4 twice, not 3d4 and 4d4 on the same turn, as these hits occur in a single attack action). Note that the hits do not need to be sequential; missing the target does not reset the counter. Also note that effects that grant an additional action (haste, action surge) will increment the counter up to the maximum, as they are considered different attack actions.

Note that  immunity to disease or necrotic damage confers immunity to the additional necrotic damage stack. Resistance or vulnerability to necrotic applies as usual.

Proficiency with a Dagger allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Nick. When you make the extra attack of the Light property, you can make it as part of the Attack action instead of as a Bonus Action. You can make this extra attack only once per turn.
