This cursed sentient blade levels with the weilder.
Levels 1-5:
When you first attune yourself with this blade, you can attack a creature with this magic weapon and if you roll a crit on the attack roll, that target takes an extra 10 necrotic damage. (If it isn't a construct or an undead you also gain 10 temporary hit points.)
Levels 5-10:
Once attuned with this blade, you can use your bonus action to leave some part of the blade's edge in your target and drain the life force from them. The creature must make a constitution saving throw, DC 15, or continue taking 10 necrotic damage each round that the blade remains in it.
Levels 10-15:
Once attuned to this blade, you cannot lose it. (Must be of the same alignment as the blade) As long as you and the blade are on the same plane of existence, you may use a bonus action to summon the blade into your hand. Also, regardless of if you are of the same alignment or not, add an additional 1d10 to the necrotic damage and heal the same amount as what you rolled, on top of the normal 10 points of healing.
Levels 15-20:
Once attuned and aligned with the blade, if you hit a creature, that isn't a construct or undead, you deal a minimum of 20 points of necrotic damage (in addition to normal slashing damage of this blade) and recieve at least equal to that in healing. If there are extra hit points when you heal, they will be added to you as temporary hit points. Additionally, if one of your allies within 15 feet of you has the same alignment as you and the blade, you may give half of the total healing received from an attack to them. If there is excess healing, or they do not need healing, those points are converted to temporary hp.
This item is cursed and once attuned, acts as a symbiotic magical item, meaning it cannot be un-attuned with willing or without anything short of a wish spell. After every three kills with this blade, you must make a wisdom saving throw DC15 or be cursed with "Soul render's curse".
Soul Render's Curse:
If you fail a saving throw with this blade, your alignment slowly begins to shift towards lawful evil. Additionally, you will slowly be turned vampiric. First gaining fangs as the ability, then need, to drink blood is added to you. (2-4 failed wisdom saves by DM's discretion) The more times you fail after this, regardless of all successes that aren't a 20, your descent into the vampiric curse only increases. If you roll a natural 1, roll a d10 and choose an effect from the list in this items notes. If you roll a natural 20, you may negate 1 effect. (Even once free'd from the curse and no longer attuned with this magical blade, if you failed at least 2 saving throws, your character will always have the first effect mentioned above. (Ability to feed)
For rules on vampiric feeding, or their weaknesses and abilities, see vampire in the monster manual.
