A radiant shield of sun-forged gold and white steel, its surface etched with the first prayer ever spoken at dawn. When held, faint rays of light spill from its edges like the horizon breaking.
☀️ Bulwark of Radiant Oath
While wielding this shield:
- You gain a +2 bonus to AC (standard for a magical shield)
- When you use Lay on Hands, the target also gains temporary HP equal to your Charisma modifier
If the target was below half HP:
- The temporary HP instead equals Charisma modifier + proficiency bonus
The first oath was not to strike—but to stand.
⚔️ Judgment of the Dawn
When you deal damage with Divine Smite:
- Radiant energy erupts from the impact
- Choose one creature within 15 ft of the target:
- It takes 1d8 radiant damage
If the smite used a spell slot of 2nd level or higher:
- The damage becomes 2d8 radiant
Once per turn.
🕊️ Last Light Intercession
As a Reaction, when a creature within 10 ft would drop to 0 HP:
- You may expend 5 HP from your Lay on Hands pool
- The creature instead drops to 1 HP
- It immediately gains radiant resistance until the start of its next turn
If you expend 10 HP instead:
- The creature also stands up (no movement cost) and may move up to half its speed
Once per Short Rest.
“Not yet,” says the dawn. And the world listens.
🌄 Aura of the First Horizon
While you are conscious:
- Allies within 10 ft gain:
- +1 bonus to saving throws
- If an ally within the aura regains HP:
- They may move 5 ft without provoking opportunity attacks
🔥 Oathbound Radiance
When you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack:
- Your weapon deals an additional 1d6 radiant damage
If the target is undead or fiend:
- The damage becomes 2d6 radiant
⚖️ Minor Curse — Burden of the Unyielding Dawn
The shield demands protection above all else.
If a creature within 10 ft drops to 0 HP while you still have Lay on Hands HP remaining:
- You must succeed on a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw or:
- You are compelled on your next turn to:
- Move toward a creature in need
- And use Lay on Hands or a healing ability
While compelled:
- You have disadvantage on attack rolls against any creature that has not harmed your allies
The dawn does not forgive those who choose not to stand.
Shields require the Utilize action to Don or Doff. You gain the Armor Class benefit of a Shield only if you have training with it.
Notes: Bonus: Armor Class, Paladin, Combat, Warding
