Artificer’s Auto-Lockpick

A compact brass device of spinning gears, retractable prongs, and tiny clicking arms, this intricate contraption hums softly when held near a lock. Small arcane etchings glow faintly as it “analyzes” mechanisms before slipping its tools into place with uncanny precision.

Properties

While holding the Auto-Lockpick, you gain the following benefits:

• You gain a +2 bonus to Dexterity checks made to pick locks
• If you are proficient with thieves’ tools, this bonus increases to +4

Additionally:

• The device can open any nonmagical lock as if you had thieves’ tools
• If you are not proficient with thieves’ tools, you may still attempt to pick locks using this item (you do not add proficiency, only the +2 bonus)
