A heavy, 1835 Paterson Colt revolver with a 7.5-inch barrel and a dark, weathered finish. The grip is made of polished walnut, inlaid with a silver pentagram. Etched along the barrel in flowing Latin script is the phrase Non Timebo Mala—I will fear no evil. This is more than a firearm; it is an artifact of absolute finality. It does not fire standard lead, but specialized ammunition hand-carved with occult sigils. The mechanical click of the hammer is heavy and resonant, signaling the end of whatever stands in its sights.
You gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this weapon. It deals 2d8 piercing damage and is considered magically silvered.
Crafted Ammo: The Devil’s Trap
During a long rest, a character proficient with Tinker’s Tools or Arcane Arcana can spend time carefully carving a binding sigil into a bullet.
The Shot: On a hit, a Fiend or Undead must succeed on a DC 15 Charisma saving throw.
The Trap: On a failure, a glowing Devil’s Trap sigil burns into the target’s skin or the ground beneath them. They are "Grappled", cannot teleport, and cannot leave their current plane of existence for 1 minute. The target can repeat the save at the end of each of its turns.
It’s up to you to decide whether a character has proficiency with a firearm. Characters in most D&D worlds wouldn’t have such proficiency. During their downtime, characters can use the training rules in the Player’s Handbook to acquire proficiency, assuming that they have enough ammunition to keep the weapons working while mastering their use.
