Weapon (battleaxe), legendary (requires attunement by a non-evil creature.)

Ancestral Runic Axe

You gain a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.

Forged in the deepest sanctums of the mountain halls—where living stone meets the eternal flame of the first forges—this axe is a peerless union of balance, strength, and ancestral will. Its massive blade is crafted from an impossible alloy of runic steel, mithral, and adamantine, fused through ancient rites long lost to time.

Across its surface, incandescent runes drift like embers beneath ash. These are no mere inscriptions: they pulse, breathe, and shift subtly, as though the weapon itself harbors an ancient and watchful spirit. Their archaic forms are etched with flawless precision, often traced with veins of gold and silver that amplify both their sacred nature and their latent power.

Each strike resounds like hammer upon anvil—a deep, resonant toll that echoes with the voices of those who came before. Within that sound linger the whispers of ancestral smiths and warriors, guiding the wielder’s hand with unseen mastery.

When drawn for battle, the axe awakens. Its runes blaze brighter with every heartbeat, and the air itself grows dense with primordial force. This is not merely a weapon of war—it is an instrument of legacy, forged to sunder not only flesh and bone, but destiny itself.

Yet its greatest power lies in its origin. Such a weapon can only be forged by a dwarf seeking redemption for a grievous sin—one who, in humility and penance, relinquishes all claim to their creation. No maker’s mark mars its surface. No rune bears a name. No symbol reveals its clan.

It stands as a nameless offering—a silent vow to the gods and to all dwarvenkind. Its creator is forgotten, as intended… yet their atonement endures in every strike.
