Weapon (glaive), artifact (requires attunement by a Can only be attuned by a descendant of the Godscarred species)

A living manifestation of divine hunger bound to the Godscarred. Mournhunger feeds upon the essence of the fallen, evolving alongside its wielder as the fractured god within awakens.

Mournhunger is not a forged weapon, nor an artifact crafted by mortal hands.

It is the exposed feeding organ of the fractured divine entity sealed within the Godscarred body — a manifested extension of impossible hunger given shape through emotion, violence, and survival instinct.

In dormant states, Mournhunger resembles a warped polearm formed from blackened divine stone and cracked celestial bone, pulsing faintly with fracture-light beneath its surface. Its blade shifts subtly depending on the emotional state of its wielder, sometimes appearing jagged and predatory, other times impossibly smooth like carved obsidian.

The weapon cannot truly be separated from its bearer. When released, it dissolves into drifting fracture-light before reforming within the wielder’s grasp moments later.

Mournhunger does not feed upon flesh.

It consumes:

  • fear
  • pain
  • dying intent
  • emotional residue
  • fragments of divine essence

Those slain by Mournhunger leave behind brief echoes within the fracture-light of the weapon, their final emotions absorbed into the sealed god within.

As the wielder grows stronger, Mournhunger awakens in stages — becoming less a weapon and more a catastrophic extension of the divine being imprisoned inside the Godscarred.

YOU HAVE TO EDIT THIS MANUALLY WITH CUSTOMIZE:

MOURNHUNGER EVOLUTION

Stage I — Awakened (Level 1–4)
Mournhunger exists in its dormant manifested state.

Weapon Bonus
+0 to attack rolls
+0 to damage rolls

Mournhunger counts as a magical weapon for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.

At this stage, the weapon appears unstable and partially formed, with fracture-light pulsing faintly beneath its surface.

---

Stage II — Hungry (Level 5–8)
The divine hunger within the weapon strengthens and stabilizes its manifested edge.

Weapon Bonus
+1 to attack rolls
+1 to damage rolls

The fractures within the weapon glow brighter during combat, and essence consumed from fallen enemies visibly reinforces the blade.

---

Stage III — Ravenous (Level 9–12)
Mournhunger begins actively feeding from violence and emotional instability.

Weapon Bonus
+2 to attack rolls
+2 to damage rolls

The weapon shifts shape subtly during moments of rage, and the divine force within starts exerting pressure on nearby reality itself.

---

Stage IV — Catastrophic (Level 13–16)
Reality struggles to contain the manifested form of Mournhunger.

Weapon Bonus
+2 to attack rolls
+2 to damage rolls

Rather than becoming physically sharper, Mournhunger evolves through catastrophic manifestations:
- fracture-light distorts the battlefield
- nearby creatures feel oppressive divine pressure
- emotional energy visibly leaks from slain enemies into the weapon

The weapon’s presence becomes increasingly unstable and unnatural.

---

Stage V — Apotheosis (Level 17+)
Mournhunger fully manifests as a divine catastrophe given physical form.

Weapon Bonus
+3 to attack rolls
+3 to damage rolls

At this stage, Mournhunger no longer feels forged or material. The weapon exists simultaneously as manifested matter, emotional force, and divine fracture.

Its movements appear partially disconnected from physical reality, and creatures standing nearby instinctively understand they are witnessing something never meant to exist within the mortal world.

Proficiency with a Glaive allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Graze. If your attack roll with this weapon misses a creature, you can deal damage to that creature equal to the ability modifier you used to make the attack roll. This damage is the same type dealt by the weapon, and the damage can be increased only by increasing the ability modifier.

Notes: Bonus: Melee Reach, # Mournhunger Mournhunger is not forged. It is manifested. The weapon appears as a long fractured glaive formed from blackened divine stone and unstable metallic growths. Gold fracture-light pulses beneath its surface like veins beneath skin. When drawn, nearby air distorts subtly around the blade and emotional energy bleeds visibly from dying creatures toward the weapon itself. Mournhunger was created as a feeding instrument for beings incapable of consuming mortal food. Rather than flesh, it devours emotional residue, violent intent, fear, sorrow, and the fading life-force released during death. The weapon cannot be permanently separated from its wielder. If lost or destroyed, Mournhunger reforms during the wielder’s next long rest from divine fracture-light and accumulated emotional energy. --- # Devour Essence Whenever a creature dies within 15 feet of you, Mournhunger absorbs fragments of its emotional and spiritual essence. As a bonus action, you may consume this stored essence to sustain yourself. Choose one effect: • Regain hit points equal to your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier. • Gain temporary hit points equal to twice your Barbarian level. • Cause your Fracture Light to violently erupt until the end of your next turn. During this time, creatures of your choice within 10 feet of you must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier) or become frightened of you until the start of your next turn. You may use this feature using Mournhunger’s available charges. Constructs and undead do not provide essence unless your DM rules they possess a soul or emotional residue. --- # Mournhunger Evolution ## Stage I — Awakened (Level 1–4) +0 attack and damage rolls. Mournhunger counts as magical. ## Stage II — Hungry (Level 5–8) +1 attack and damage rolls. The divine hunger stabilizes the weapon’s manifested edge. ## Stage III — Ravenous (Level 9–12) +2 attack and damage rolls.
