This soot-black cloak is woven from heat-scarred fibers threaded with fine crimson stitching that glows faintly like dying embers. Wisps of warm ash constantly drift from its folds, vanishing before they touch the ground. The cloak smells faintly of smoke after rain, and its edges never seem to burn no matter how close they come to flame.
Legends claim the first Ashwake Cloaks were crafted by arcanists who walked unharmed through dragonfire and volcanic ruin, using drifting ash and illusion magic to vanish from enemy strikes.
Ashwake Veil
Immediately after you cast a spell of 1st level or higher, swirling ash and ember-filled smoke surround you until the start of your next turn. While this effect is active:
- Opportunity attacks made against you are made with disadvantage.
- You gain half cover against ranged attacks.
The ash lightly obscures your form, causing your silhouette to blur and shift in the smoke.
Emberstep Escape
Once per long rest, when you take damage from a creature you can see, you can use your reaction to cast Misty Step without expending a spell slot or requiring components. When you do, your space erupts into a burst of hot ash and fading embers.
Charred footprints remain for a few seconds where you stood before crumbling away into dust.
