A 4th-Level Arcane Charge is a palm-sized crystal threaded with unstable arcs of magical energy.
While carrying the charge, a creature capable of casting at least one spell may use the charge in place of a 4th-level spell slot when casting a spell. The charge may also be used to upcast a spell.
When a creature uses an Arcane Charge of a level higher than the highest spell slot they could normally cast, they must succeed on a Constitution saving throw with a DC equal to 10 + the charge’s level or suffer arcane backlash.
On a failed save, the creature takes force damage equal to twice the charge’s level and cannot cast spells until the end of their next turn.
Once used, the Arcane Charge loses its magic and crumbles into inert dust.
