Crafted by the wizard Ariellys Fly, this elegant implement was born from salvaged blueprints and corrupted remnants recovered from an abandoned hag's hut. Ariellys purified the chaotic, swamp-stained magic of the hags, reshaping the components into an instrument of academic sophistication.
The broom's sturdy wooden handle is meticulously carved to resemble the barrel of a masterwork fountain pen, terminating in a gleaming metallic nib that channels raw arcane energy. In place of mundane bristles, its brush consists of vibrant, shimmering peacock and exotic feathers that thrum with a permanent mystical aura.
Properties
Flight. This wooden broom functions like a mundane broom until you stand astride it and take a Magic action to make it hover beneath you, at which time it can be ridden in the air. While hovering, its metallic nib ignites with a soft blue light, releasing wisps of ethereal vapor. It has a Fly Speed of 50 feet. It can carry up to 400 pounds, but its Fly Speed becomes 30 feet while carrying over 200 pounds. The broom stops hovering when you land or when you’re no longer riding it.
Autonomous Travel. As a Magic action, you can send the broom to travel alone to a destination within 1 mile of you if you name the location and are familiar with it, leaving a faint, ink-like shimmering trail across the sky. The broom comes back to you when you take a Magic action and use a command word etched into its wooden barrel, if the broom is still within 1 mile of you.
Arcane Inkwell. While you are attuned to and riding the broom, it can distill the magical components needed for your studies and spellcasting. When you cast a spell that requires ink as a material component—regardless of ink type and whether that ink has a specific gold piece (gp) cost or is consumed by the spell—the broom’s nib exudes the necessary mystical ink, allowing you to cast the spell without providing that component. You can use this property up to 6 times, and you regain all expended uses after a long rest.
Notes: Set: Innate Speed (Flying), Speed Reduction: Impose
