Aegis Pattern VII "Bulwark"

Legendary Shield

Forged for the Imperial Marines of the Leviathan, the Aegis Pattern VII was designed for boarding actions, riot suppression, and holding choke points against overwhelming odds. When activated, blue repulsor emitters along its rim project a shimmering force barrier capable of stopping explosives, plasma fire, and magical assaults alike.

The shield bears the Leviathan Ouroboros above the words EMPERIUM MARINES.

Basic Properties

  • Requires 20 Strength
  • Functions as a +2 Shield.
  • While wearing Leviathan Power Armor, your speed is not reduced by the shield's weight.
  • You have advantage on Strength checks and saving throws made to resist being shoved or knocked prone.

Repulsor Burst

3 Charges (Regains charges each dawn.)

When a creature within 5 feet hits you with a melee attack or willingly enters a space within 5 feet of you, you may use your reaction to activate the shield's repulsor field.

The creature must succeed on a Strength saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier).

Failure

  • Takes 2d8 force damage
  • Is pushed 15 feet
  • Falls prone if it strikes another creature or a solid object.

The creature must then make a Constitution saving throw against the same DC.

On a failed Constitution save, it is Stunned until the start of its next turn.

Success

  • Half damage.
  • Pushed 5 feet.

Brace for Impact

If you do not move during your turn, you may enter a defensive stance until the start of your next turn.

While braced:

  • Gain an additional +1 AC.
  • You cannot be forcibly moved unless you choose to be.
  • Allies directly behind you gain Half Cover.

Fortress Protocol

1/Long Rest

As an action, you may activate the shield's emergency containment system.

The shield unfolds into a 10-foot-radius hemispherical dome of blue force centered on you (covering your space and the eight surrounding squares).

The dome lasts for 1 minute or until destroyed.

While active:

  • The shield cannot be moved from its location.
  • You may move freely within the dome.
  • Creatures can move into the dome through the open floor, but cannot pass through the force wall.
  • Ranged weapon attacks, breath weapons, and spells cannot pass through the barrier in either direction unless the effect specifically ignores force barriers.
  • The dome provides Total Cover to creatures inside.

Barrier Statistics

  • Armor Class: 25
  • Hit Points: 250
  • Damage Threshold: 15
  • Resistance: Acid, Cold, Fire, Force, Lightning, Necrotic, Psychic, Radiant, Thunder, and all damage from spells.
  • Immune: Poison, Poisoned, Charmed, Frightened, Exhaustion, Grappled, Paralyzed, Petrified, Prone, Restrained.
  • Automatically succeeds on all saving throws.

If the barrier is reduced to 0 hit points or the duration ends, it collapses in a flash of blue light.

After activating Fortress Protocol, the shield's power core is completely depleted. It loses all magical properties, including its +2 bonus and Repulsor Burst, until the next dawn.

Flavor

"Imperial Marine doctrine dictated that no boarding party was ever truly surrounded. One Marine with an Aegis shield could become a fortress, buying precious minutes for civilians to evacuate or reinforcements to arrive."

Shields require the Utilize action to Don or Doff. You gain the Armor Class benefit of a Shield only if you have training with it.
