This black, rusty greatsword was once used by an ancient elven king to oppose the mightiest magic users.
Creatures that have magic, even due to race, cannot use this item.
You have a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this Anti-Magic weapon.
This sword is entirely anti-magic and as such destroys and repels all forms of magic that the sword touches. Any creature that has magic that grasps this sword will lose 1 spell slot of their highest level per round that they hold the sword. Any creature that is under the effects of Polymorph, or any other magical shape manipulation magic will instantly revert to their true form if they come into physical contact with this sword. Creatures that are holding this sword are incapable of using cantrips. Creatures that are concentrating on spells and are hit by this weapon instantly lose concentration. If a creature is under the effects of a spell such as Charm Person and are touched by this sword, the spell is dispelled.
Special Attributes
As this sword is unique, it possesses some special attributes.
Grimoire
This sword is held within a dark red book with a black 5 leaf clover in the center called a "Grimoire". This sword can be pulled out of or put back into the grimoire as a bonus action. When the sword is out, the grimoire floats within the same space as the user. The grimoire only weighs 2 pounds and the sword weighs nothing while in the grimoire. The sword cannot be stored in any other object like a Bag of Holding unless the user also stays in that space.
Magic Destruction
This sword is capable of targeting magical effects, such as Wall of Force, and destroying them by attacking them. If the user is targeted by a spell attack such as Magic Missile, they can use their reaction to attack the spell and destroy it.
If this sword hits a creature that has spell slots, the highest level of spell slot that the creature has is instantly lost. This effect can only occur once per turn.
This ability does not instantly kill magical creatures such as a pixie or a clay golem.
Magic Repulsion
This sword is capable of repelling magical attacks towards the user. If a creature that you can see casts a spell such as Magic Missile or Fireball, you can use your reaction to repel the attack back towards the caster.
Detriments
The powers of this sword come at a cost to the user. Once you attune to this item the following occurs:
- You cannot use any other weapons.
- You cannot wear armor.
- You roll at disadvantage on all arcana checks. There is no way to circumvent this detriment.
- The only way to unattune to this item is death. If you die while attuned to this item, you can only be resurrected through use of the spell True Resurrection.
- A creature of the DM's choice learns of your name and location at the time of attunement. What this means is determined by the DM.
Proficiency with a Greatsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Graze. If your attack roll with this weapon misses a creature, you can deal damage to that creature equal to the ability modifier you used to make the attack roll. This damage is the same type dealt by the weapon, and the damage can be increased only by increasing the ability modifier.
