This fine barding (mount armor) is crafted from the thick scales of the arapaima fish, sewn with mithril thread to a supple leather backing and infused with protective magic. It is a very supple and light-weight armor, allowing for a far greater freedom of movement and range of flexibility over traditional metal mail.
A mount or an animal companion wearing this armor adds their full dexterity bonus to their AC. The arapaima scale armor is also quieter, and the wearer suffers no disadvantage to stealth checks.
Centaurs and similar creatures can also wear Barding as armor.
| Barding Size | Weight (Lbs) |
| Tiny | 1 |
| Medium | 12 |
| Large | 48 |
| Huge | 192 |
| Gargantuan | 768 |
| COLLOSAL | 3,072 |
This armor consists of a coat and leggings (and perhaps a separate skirt) of leather covered with overlapping pieces of metal, much like the scales of a fish. The suit includes gauntlets.
