Weapon (scimitar), artifact

The origins of Avraxus are unknown to all but the oldest powers of the cosmos. Legends claim the blade was not forged within any mortal world, nor even within the dominion of the gods, but from a fragment of darkness gathered from the silent gulf that lies between realities. How such a thing came to be shaped into a weapon remains a mystery.

Its hilt is wrought of bronze worked into overlapping dragon-scale patterns, each painstakingly detailed by a craftsman whose name has long been erased from history. The metal never tarnishes, no matter the age of the blade. Those who study it closely often find themselves convinced that the scales subtly shift position when unobserved, though no proof of this phenomenon has ever been found.

The blade itself is forged from a lightless black metal that reflects neither sun nor flame. Along its edge dances a thin line of azure lightning, crackling softly with restrained power. The energy never fades, never consumes the blade, and never seems to draw from any discernible source. When unsheathed, Avraxus emits a distant rumble like thunder heard across an endless sea.

Many have described an unsettling sensation in the weapon's presence. Scholars speak of fleeting feelings of nostalgia for places they have never visited. Priests report half-remembered prayers lingering at the edge of thought. Dreamers tell of standing beneath vast storm-filled skies beside someone they loved dearly, only to awaken unable to recall a single face.

Ancient texts disagree on who first wielded Avraxus. Some name a wandering hero. Others claim it belonged to a forgotten king. A handful of damaged records speak only of a divine champion whose deeds were deliberately removed from history. Whatever the truth, all surviving accounts share one detail: wherever Avraxus appeared, storms followed, and the course of destiny changed.

Even now, the blade feels less like a weapon and more like a memory waiting to be remembered.

When not in use and sheathed, both the scabbard and Scimitar disappear into an as yet unknown location in the Uinverse between Universes. Its owner may use a free action to summon the scimitar. Outside of combat, it may be summoned and dismissed at will.
