This thin tablet of glass and metal originates from thousands of years in the future. Although mundane by the standards of its own era, it is an impossible and irreplaceable artifact in Ancient Greece.

The tablet is protected by a fitted case and accompanied by a charging cable and digital stylus. It recognizes its original owner and can be unlocked only by them.

Battery

The tablet has 10 charges, representing its remaining battery power.

The tablet expends 1 charge for every hour of ordinary use. Particularly demanding activities, such as prolonged gaming, recording video, or using the flashlight continuously, may consume additional charges at the DM’s discretion.

While the tablet is connected to its charging cable, you can spend 10 minutes channeling a carefully controlled electrical current into it. At the end of that time, the tablet regains all expended charges. Once charged in this way, it can’t be charged again until you finish a Long Rest.

The tablet ceases functioning while it has no charges.

Offline Archive

When you gain this item, roll 1d6 + 4. The result is the number of subjects for which the tablet contains downloaded documents, manuals, textbooks, diagrams, or instructional videos.

Before the campaign begins, work with your DM to determine each archived subject. These subjects can be broad fields of knowledge, such as electrical engineering, mechanical repair, cooking, first aid, survival, metallurgy, glassworking, chemistry, or another subject approved by the DM.

The tablet contains only information that could reasonably have been downloaded before you were transported through time. The exact contents and limitations of each archived subject are determined between you and your DM.

When you spend at least 10 minutes consulting information from one of the tablet’s archived subjects, you can prepare its guidance. Within the next hour, when you make an ability check related to that subject, you can add 2d4 to the roll. This can include a check using an ability score, skill proficiency, tool proficiency, or another type of ability check approved by the DM.

You can have only one use of this guidance prepared at a time. The bonus is lost after it is used, when you consult the tablet to prepare a different use, or when 1 hour passes.

The tablet provides information and instructions, but it doesn’t provide missing materials, equipment, magical knowledge, or practical experience. The DM determines whether an archived subject is relevant to a particular ability check.

Modern Utilities

The tablet retains several ordinary functions, including:

• Calculator
• Camera and video recorder
• Clock, calendar, and timer
• Digital notes and drawing applications
• Music and video players
• Offline games
• Flashlight

The flashlight sheds Bright Light in a 20-foot cone and Dim Light for an additional 20 feet.

The tablet also contains a personal collection of downloaded movies, shows, music, games, cooking tutorials, and other entertainment. This content doesn’t require an internet connection.

Impossible Connection

Once per Long Rest, you can command the tablet to search for a modern wireless network. Roll 1d100 and consult the following table:

While connected, the tablet can access modern websites and online services normally, provided the tablet has the necessary application or browser.

Information found online describes the history and reality from which the tablet originated. It may be incomplete, inaccurate, or entirely different from the mythological world in which the tablet now exists.

The connection can’t be traced, reproduced, or shared with another device.

Irreplaceable Technology

The tablet has AC 15, 15 Hit Points, and immunity to Poison and Psychic damage.

If reduced to 0 Hit Points, the tablet becomes inoperable. The Mending spell can repair cracks, scratches, and other superficial damage, but it can’t restore destroyed electronic components.

A disabled tablet can be restored only through sufficiently advanced technology, powerful restorative magic, or another method determined by the DM.
