Wondrous Item, uncommon (requires attunement)

A regular chef's hat. You wear it on your head. Nothing suspicious here. Move along.

When attuned to this hat, you have advantage on checks using cook's utensils and on Charisma (Performance) checks made to entertain while cooking, as it seems to guide you in preparing food. After you spend 24 hours wearing it, you feel famished, even if you've eaten enough for that day. You suffer 1 level of exhaustion which can't be reduced by a long rest.

While exhausted in this manner, you feel an insatiable hunger. You suffer another level of exhaustion for each 24 hours you wear the hat, and notice it reacts to food, growling and dribbling. If you put food close to it, it reveals itself as a disguised mimic. Feeding the hat a pound of food removes 1 level of exhaustion caused by wearing it.

If you feed the hat exquisite meals, it grows in power. It becomes a rare item when it eats a meal prepared with ingredients from a creature of CR 6 or higher, and very rare with a meal from a CR 11 or higher.

Out of the Frying Pan (Rare). On top of the other features granted by the hat, you have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks and resistance to fire damage while the hat's not hungry.

Into the Fire (Very Rare). The hat can hold 4 charges and regains 1d4 charges when you feed it for the first time in 24 hours.

You can spend 1 charge when you cast a fire-based spell to make its attack roll with advantage or for one creature affected by it to make their saving throw with disadvantage.

Also, while the hat is hungry, whenever you deal fire damage, you roll an additional d8 and add it to the result.

Notes: Exhaustion
