The off-colored orb is a mimic, which takes the appearance of an eye. A creature which is not missing an eye can hold the mimic to one eye over the course of the attunement process, after which the mimic devours the eye and takes it's place, embedding itself within the eye socket. While attuned to the mimic, you gain the following effects:
Uncommon:
- When making a Perception check, you can use your Intelligence or Charisma modifiers in place of your Wisdom modifier.
- You have advantage on Perception Checks.
Rare:
- You can read and understand all written languages.
- You can cast Detect Magic at will.
- You can see within magical and nonmagical darkness, up to 60ft.
Very Rare:
- You have Immunity to the Blinded Condition.
- Attacks on creatures you can see land a critical hit on a roll of 19 or 20 on the d20. If you already have an increased critical hit range, this feature instead increases that range by 1 (19-20 to 18-20, 18-20 to 17-20, etc.)
Symbiotic Nature. The Aberrant Iris cannot be removed while you are attuned to it. To end attunement with the item, Remove Curse must be cast on you while you are willing, after which the mimic leaves your eye socket and acts as it would normally. Your eye does not return when attunement is ended.
Notes: Advantage: Perception, Sense: Darkvision, Immunity: Blinded, creature missing an eye
